GC-ECD/GC-TCD

This machine is a gas chromatograph coupled to three different detectors: mass spectrometry (MS), electron capture detector (ECD) and thermal conductivity detector (TCD). The MS is broken. If you want to use gas chromatography coupled to MS, this machine does not work and you should use the “new” GC-MS. The ECD and TCD detectors are still working.

This machine can be used to measure gases that can be detected by ECD (N2O) or TCD (eg. CO). There are 2 inlets: the front one is used for measuring on the ECD (the back detector) and the back inlet is used for measuring on the TCD (front detector).

Machine: Agilent 6890 series GC system Plus+

Standard settings (can be changed when discussed):

1. Inlet temperature: 125 °C
2. Inlet flow: 25.0 mL/min
3. TCD column flow: 23 mL/min
4. ECD column flow:
5. Oven temperature: 65 °C
6. TCD detector: 150 °C
7. ECD detector: 300 °C

Before using this machine, you should get an introduction from one of the RPs (Isabel Rigutto, Martijn Wissink, Robin Klomp).
